Once opened there is a plastic rustle and the door closes with an even longer spooky creaking noise. Followed by a clunk when shut and a metallic click to lock the shed door. Silence back and front.

This may be the most irritating squeak sound ever. In our office, we discovered a particular filing cabinet that squeaked if you would lean against it. It was too good to pass up. So i put my recorder in the drawer and leaned. This is the result: four squeaks of unparalleled irritation. I hope you can find a use for this in your projects.

While we were in studio, a friend of mine found out that his drum throne creaks in a cool way. He gave it a little performance, and i got it on "tape". Recorded with a zoom h2 at 96khz/24-bit. Uncut, unprocessed, raw.

Opening and closing an old metal hatch in our basement. The hatch is locked by two handles. The first two creaks are the handles being turned, the last creak is the hatch itself. At around 0:10, the hatch is closed again and the two handles are turned to closed position. Recorded using a no-name directional microphone. I recorded the sound of my wooden, squeaky screen door opening and then bouncing shut with a couple bangs. You can hear the squeak of the hinges as the door is opened, then again as it starts to close. The stretching and retraction of the spring is slightly noticeable. The door bounces a couple times as it closes, and you can also hear the latch rattling at this time. Recorded with audacity on my computer using a cheap, hand-held piezo mic. (i recorded this for use in a theatrical play i was working on [ daddy's dyin'. . . Who's got the will? ] because i couldn't find anything suitable elsewhere. ).
